ROOTED IN FAITH

Christ Our Light was established in 2009 through the unification of two devout Catholic communities: St. Francis de Sales and Our Lady of Mercy.
St. Francis de Sales originated in West Albany in 1883 and later migrated to Loudonville, bringing with it a strong foundation of family-centered worship and community spirit. Our Lady of Mercy, established in 1921, was rooted in the Albany area, where it nurtured generations in faith through its commitment to prayer, outreach, and neighborhood presence. Though distinct in geography and character, both parishes were united by a shared love for Christ, a deep devotion to the sacraments, and a desire to respond to the needs of the Church in a changing time. Their coming together gave birth to Christ Our Light—a vibrant, faith-filled community that honors the legacy of its past while embracing a future of unity, service, and spiritual growth.
